Job Description:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager reports directly to the San Diego Area Manager and manages company compliance with ISO 9001 and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items. The QA Manager administers locally the Quality Management System (QMS) including lower tier procedures. The QA Manager manages the Corrective Action program and oversees the drafting of Test and Inspection Plans (TIPs), Test and Inspection Records (TIRs), internal audits, external audits, and collaborates with the Operations and Production Managers to accomplish quality checkpoints, in-process inspections in the field, and to preserve Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) of work accomplished. The QA Manager directs the duties and training of assigned NDT Specialists and Paint Inspectors.

Job Requirements / Skill Sets:

The candidate must be a U.S. citizen, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Driver License, have reliable transportation, be able to climb vertical/inclined ladders to access work areas aboard US Navy ships, be physically able to work aboard ship under varying environmental conditions (heat & humidity), and comply with OSHA safety regulations. The candidate must be able to understand complex work specification requirements and to read and interpret drawings and technical documents.

The candidate must have at least ten years of experience (combined) in the ship repair industry, in ISO 9001 compliance, on US Navy active duty, or in the Merchant Marine. Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods is required as well as Level II certification in NDT Visual Inspection Testing (VT). Familiarity with paint inspections (NBPI or NACE) is required. The ideal candidate would have Level II certification in Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), certification as a paint inspector, plus familiarity with the NAVSEA Modernization Program, NAVSEA Technical Specification 9090-310, and RMMCO procedures for Alteration Installation Teams.
