PURCHASING ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Part Time)

I. GENERAL

This position is that of Part Time Purchasing Administrative Assistant. Client performs various engineering, technical and management consulting services and studies for various customers including the United States Government. This position is ideal for former military with a logistics background or a current or recent college student seeking a career in Supply Chain / Purchasing Management.

Location: National City, CA

II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Assists in selecting vendors, assesses vendor capabilities, developing alternate sources, and evaluating vendor performance, negotiate price and delivery.
  2. Assists in making certain that purchasing documents are properly completed and the terms and conditions of purchases are appropriate.
  3. Assists in assuring that records are maintained and that purchases are followed up or expedited when required and that records include price histories to provide information on price variances.
  4. Assists in maintaining Corporate Purchase Order files.

III. SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervision required.

IV. CONTROL OVER POSITION

The Purchasing Administrative Assistant reports to the Purchasing Manager.

 V. QUALIFICATIONS

Effective performance in this position requires:

  1. High school education and experience in the purchasing field.
  2. Experience or education in supply & financial management procedures with understanding of government material procurement requirements or commercial purchasing procedures.
  3. Navy supply experience and/or BS in Business a plus.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to utilize a computer to perform word processing, develop spreadsheets, access e-mail (MS Office programs), and purchase order and procurement computer programs, including online supply chain resources.
  6. Ability to learn and use government work authorization and material support procedures.
  7. Prior experience as a Logistic Support Specialist a plus.
